Napa Riverfront Promenade
Napa Riverfront Promenade is one of the most exciting projects to occur in Napa. By incorporating an outdoor plaza area with restaurants, retail/ office spaces and high end loft living with roof top gardens, an exciting space is created that connects pedestrians to the river. vTA collaborated with the City of Napa and the Army Corps of Engineers to design a flood wall that will not only protect downtown from the one hundred year flood but is also aesthetically pleasing and provides access down to the water.

Napa Crossing
Napa Crossing is Napa’s first LEED sustainable retail development. The project consists of five retail buildings and a new public transportation stop. The site is located within a main retail corridor and will provide diverse retail activity to the Napa valley. The project incorporates a number of green building practices including efficient water and energy use as well as green roofs on the trash enclosures. The project has been designed with enhanced paving at the parking stalls to minimize solar reflectivity and heat impacts. Bio-swales are also being used to manage site water run-off.

South Napa Century Center
The South Napa Century Center is a 7.7 acre property located in south Napa along the picturesque Napa River. The project area includes a theater, hotel, health club, restaurants, and retail. The landscape is a contemporary theme utilizing drought tolerant plants in colors and textures that complements the project architecture. The Napa Century Theater is the first movie theater in California designed to meet LEED certification. The irrigation was designed to utilize rainwater harvesting from onsite and neighboring properties which is stored in underground cisterns.

Napa Mill
The Napa Mill (a.k.a.) The Hatt Building has been a fixture on the city of Napa’s riverfront since 1884. The Napa Mill includes a year-round produce market, specialty retail shops, three restaurants, a 60-room hotel, a conference center, and the proposed ferry terminus for the Napa Queen. Unique to this project is a multilevel riverfront promenade. The Napa Mill Promenade is highlighted by landscape planters, dining terraces, scenic overlooks and a reconstructed historic wharf.

Sacramento International Airport
vanderToolen Associates was selected as the landscape architect for the expansion of the Sacramento International Airport. vTA was responsible for the landscape design of the new passenger Terminal B, the Terminal B garage, and all exterior areas of the project including the “Great Meadow” which will be viewed thru the terminal’s five story atrium and greet visitors with expansive views towards downtown Sacramento and the Central Valley beyond. The design team was also responsible for the landscape design of several ancillary buildings, parking lots, support service areas, interface areas to existing Terminal A and the future light rail station. This project was also awarded LEED Silver from USGBC.

Streets of Brentwood
Streets of Brentwood is a “Main Street” concept lifestyle center. The retail shops are located in clustered buildings that front streets with parking, creating a downtown main street atmosphere highlighted by a center green. The center green features open pedestrian spaces, themed fountains and restaurant buildings. Streets of Brentwood includes approximately 417,000 square feet of retail and theater space on a 54 acre site. The project architecture and planting are Mediterranean in nature, while hardscape elements include terra cotta pots, “old world charm” stone pavers and themed fountains.

Napa Square is the renovation of a city block and expansion of city offices into an adjacent renovated building and a new Class ‘A’ office building. Napa Square includes a pedestrian plaza with seatwalls, palms, shade trees, and tiered water feature. This development, on the edge of downtown, provides an anchor for city services and a much needed space for outdoor community activities.

Access Dental
Access Dental is a unique office building complex comprised of two three-story buildings set on a 6 acre site fronting the Highway 50 corridor. The focus of the landscape is an urban plaza located between the two building entrances. The plaza consists of flowering shade trees aligned with a series of staggered stone veneer seat walls, creating an entrance that draws visitors from the parking lot drop off to the building lobby. This project has also been designed to utilize an on-site runoff infiltration system that directs parking lot drainage to the storm drain through two landscaped swales.
